Join us for the first ever adult crafting evening at Dandelion House! We will be making printed cards and images with flowers and leaves as a homage to the summer season and in preparation for fall.
Cyanotype literally translates from greek into “Blue Print.” They are also referred to as “Sun Prints” because we use sunlight to produce them. We will explore floral arrangements on paper treated with cyanotype solution. When placed in the sun, the plant blocks the light from reacting on the paper, leaving beautiful ghostly imprints of it contrasting with a striking dark blue.
Expect to make 4-6 prints during your time with us. I will provide plenty of foliage for this project, but I also invite you to bring clippings, sticks, feathers, and leaves from your own garden if you feel so obliged, as there is something magical about using flora that represents your own surroundings and experiences for this project.
(If bringing your own, I recommend, pre-pressing them or brining your clippings in a mason jar of water)
