Dandelion House Policies and Procedures:
Our Summer camps are designed for elementary school aged kids: 5-11 years old. We also run a couple of Tween camps which we recommend for kids from 10-14 years old who are a bit more independent in their creative direction and interested in more technically challenging projects.
We cap our Camps at 16 campers. We have a lead teacher and an assistant scheduled to work each camp. Programs with fewer than 5 enrollments will not run, and I will do my best to reschedule those campers or refund with at least 2 weeks notice.
Drop off and pick up is in the back of the building, please do not park in front of the garage doors. There will be an open gate on the south side of the building that leads you to a parking area in the back. There is a walk way along the north side of the building that leads you right to the studio door. This area is all fenced which also helps keep kids safe and way from the heavy traffic 13th east can experience.
Morning Camp runs from 9am to Noon and Afternoon Camps run from 1pm to 4pm. Within this 3 hour window we will provide a light snack and a short break for games and outside play. Please bring your child to camp with a water bottle as there is no drinking fountain on site.
If we are using materials that do not wash out of clothes, I will provide an oversized paint shirt to protect their clothes. Although rare that paint gets past the smock, accidents can happen so please do not send campers in clothing you would not want to have stained. It is not uncommon for paint to spill so please send them in shoes or sandals that you would not mind putting in the line of fire.
Warm and Cool Camps: We preplan the projects that will be taught all summer and make sure they result in a well curated portfolio that offer diversity in the experience of the process and the finished products. Because there was demand from campers and parents to attend more than one summer camp a year, we developed the Warm and Cool camp structure. Basically a second portfolio of projects to offer. This has nothing to do with color-schemes, it is just how we distinguish the week. If you are only signing up for one camp this summer, the Warm/Cool delegation is pretty irrelevant. However if you are hoping to sign up for two camps you will want to make sure you sign up for one of each so that your child makes new projects on their returning week.
Photo Policy:
We try to capture the magic of art camp! Moving forward in 2026 we will be going faceless on all social media, only posting projects. However, I may still use images with faces in the newsletter or on the website. There is a photo release in the submission form where you can opt in to which photos you are comfortable with our staff taking for promotional purposes.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations 2 weeks or more in advance can be completely refunded! Yay!
Cancellations 7-13 days in advance can be 50% refunded
Cancellations less than 7 days in advance are not refundable.
Please note we do hold firm to this cancellation policy! Our Camps are in high demand, but it is often difficult to find replacement spots last minute.
Bathroom Policy:
Children need to be able to use the bathroom independently at camp as our staff is not trained in this regard. If an issue arises were bathroom assistance is required, the parent will be contacted to come assist with such matters.
Behavior Policy:
At Dandelion House we discuss having respect for ourselves, our space, our peers, and the art materials. We passionately believe that art and creativity is for everyones benefit! However, if behavior issues are repeatedly taking away from the experiences of other campers parents will be informed so that we can work together to meet the needs of the child. Refunds are not applicable for a child removed from a program for behavioral issues.
Thank you for understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sign up my 4yo?I typically will accept 4 yo if they are coming with an older sibling who is happy to assist them. Many 4yos keep up just fine! I would consider if your child has practice in a classroom setting and can use the bathroom independently. Since we have increased our program time from 2.5 hours to 3 hours, I will say the most common struggle I witness in pre K campers is the program duration.
We can't come to the full week... should we still sign up?If your child is only missing a couple hours up to one day of camp, it’s very likely we can catch them up. I would not recommend signing them up if they had to miss more than that, I would encourage you to sign up for a different week. We do our best to accommodate absences and are often successful but this simply depends on whats on the schedule and catching up is not guaranteed.
Its Wednesday and my kid woke up sick. What should I do?If a child ends up being sick during their camp, please keep them at home. I am happy to hang on to their work and we can arrange for them to join a couple days of an other camp. I only ask that you reach out to me to arrange this. Summer is already so busy for us that I can’t promise I will chase up those make up days, but I am happy to accommodate them.
How does it work for my 6 yo and my 10 yo to have the same instruction? This is something we do intentionally and really love at Dandelion house. There are great benefits to having a wide age range of kids in a classroom together. Because our projects are designed to have loose instruction and a lot of creative interpretation, we see a wide variety of styles and ideas from the campers that reflect their developmental stages and that is part of the joy in it!
Can you ensure my child is with kids their age/gender?No, unless you are registering late and we are looking at the demographics of each camp that still has space, I can not guarantee there would be an other (ex) 10 yo boy in the camp. Most of our camps are a pretty even bell curve of variety although we do get younger groups or the girl/boy heavy groups from time to time. If you child is conscious about being with peers, I’d encourage signing them up with a friend.
How do you plan your projects? When building the portfolio for the summer we consider both processes and final product. Throughout the week we like to introduce kids to several creative mediums such as painting, ceramics, sculpture, collage, water color and drawing. We also aim to have complex projects that are worked on every day in addition to more playful projects that are accomplished in one or two sessions.
